Is the main project I worked on during my MA at CSM. It is a collection of objects and visual outcomes that derive from the reflection on the theme "sound in the domestic environment".
“The Domestic Soundscape”explores the possibilities for using sound and rhythm to celebrate the small rituals involved with everyday domestic activities. The general aim is to create awareness of the emotions drawn from everyday sounds and rhythms by surprising the user with unexpected sonic experiences.
The whole collection includes three sets of objects that show different approaches to the theme, from conceptual to functional: a ladder; carafes and glasses; as well as a toolkit to design impact sounds.

THE GLASSES are recognisable typologies that necessitate a performative interaction by which the user can generate sounds that differ from the expected ones. The sounds vary according to the movement of the liquid into and from the vessels. The inspirations are various, from John Cage to the Venetian tradition of the incalmi.

TOOLKIT TO DESIGN IMPACT SOUNDS // Loops, belts, bats: leather; case: leather and cotton.
The kit is addressed to professionals creating sound effects for cinema and theatre (in particular impact sounds). The variety of tools' shapes, textures and dimensions ensures to create a rich range of sounds.

RHYTHM #312 // Ladder in steel
Inspired by the thousand bridges in Venice (first of all the Calatrava bridge), this object provides a reflection on the influence of rhythm on human actions. The ladder asks the user to find where the next rung is going to be. Because, surprisingly, it is not going to be where expected.
